I am saddened and gravely concerned about the current situation at the Dhammakaya Temple in Thailand. I wanted to write a personal statement in support of the Abbots, Venerables and Lay peoples of the temple.

I spent several years at the temple as a volunteer helping with a range of projects to aid the dissemination of meditation to international visitors to the Middle Way Meditation Project and other similar such peaceful activities.

Luang Phor Dhammajayo and Dattajeevo aided the positive transformation of my life for the better. They introduced me to the Lord Buddha’s teachings through the Tripitaka and taught me regular meditation practice.

Which are the greatest gift I could have received and as we know ‘The taste of the Dharma excels or other tastes’. They were both fine examples to me of loving kindness, compassion, and unconditional love.

The Abbots encouraged and supported my learning with the deepest of willingness for Truth which I have never encountered before or since. The Venerables were kind, held themselves with dignity and the had the highest of ethics.

I was guided by the Sangha members towards self- discipline and how to put the Dharma into daily action by living by the Eight-Fold Path, following Precepts, Generosity, and Meditation. Both the Abbots and Venerables were of a high example for me and I felt honoured to help in any ways that I could.

With the current news reports coming out of Thailand about the Dhammakaya Temple I just do NOT recognise what is being said about Luang Phors or the Venerables or the organisation of the temple.

Please know that if I had even the smallest of inkling that something untruthful or unethical was happening I would have spoken out and certainly not stayed for all the years I did. ‘We are heir to our karma and we will receive the consequences of our action’ so please be mindful of this Truth.

In my heart, I know that the charges against the Abbot and action of some others are motivated by other than love and peacefulness; therefore, I want to let the reader know that I fully support the Abbots and the whole of the Sangha.

I do this unreservedly and without fear of contradiction to trust in the Lord Buddha’s Truth and all those who live by his teachings. Without Truth and Love we have NO peace; then Peace is the victim for us ALL.
